The Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity was designed for artists and photographers to protect the security and genuineness of their limited edition art works and reproductions on Hahnemühle paper, as well as to reduce the risk of forgery. Each certificate is made of premium deckle edged mould-made paper with a Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security fibres. A serialized numbered hologram should be added. A second, identically numbered hologram should then be applied to the reverse side of the artwork. The combination of certificate and hologram ensures that each Certificate of Authenticity relates to one particular piece of art. Text and layout of the certificate can be created individually.
Jérôme Brunet, music photographer from California uses the Certificate of Authenticity for his valuable prints: “I offer my clients and collectors the highest quality print available, which includes the peace of mind that their limited-edition print will last for many years to come. Hahnemühle’s Digital FineArt paper and Certificates of Authenticity have been there from the start. My paper of choice has been Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm, and every print I send out is accompanied with a signed and numbered certificate featuring Hahnemühle’s proprietary hologram system. Hahnemühle is the only paper I rely on for my Rock‘n’Roll photography!”
The certificates come in a new box which shows how to use the hologram system to label an artwork. Jörg Karrenbauer, photographer and curator, dedicated his picture Seaside No 12 from the series “Seaside Moods” to illustrate the new box of COAs. “I use the valuable Hahnemühle Certificates of Authenticity in addition to my embossing stamp. This is how I upgrade my work of art for collectors. The certificate guarantees the uniqueness and the authenticity of an image from my limited editions. I use FineArt Baryta and FineArt Pearl, my favorite papers, to create age-resistant prints of my photography that withstand the test of time and the Certificates of Authenticity secure the value of my artwork for future generations, collectors, galleries or museums.”
Even works of art that are not printed on Hahnemühle paper itself are upgraded by artists with Hahnemühle´s Certificate of Authenticity. Jochen Brillowski offers his iconic large-format “Move-it” photos of skylines of major German cities with certificates. “The certificates of Hahnemühle add a value to my large-format acrylic photos. The hologram system and noble handmade paper with watermark guarantees the customer that he owns a limited work of art.”
Each certified artwork can be regisitered with the corresponding certificate number on www.myartregistry.com. Have a look how artist register their originals to this website run by Hahnemühle. A search function for collectors and artists is very handy for certified works of art.
