Behind the Print – The Peak District, presented by Clive Booth, hosted by Hahnemühle
Come and see us (virtually) at The Photography Show Spring Shoots on Saturday 6th March 2021!
In this Clive Booth Workshop with Hahnemühle, the renowned beauty, portrait and landscape photographer shares how he prepared his mesmerising image of a Peak District landscape for the best possible print on Hahnemühle Digital FineArt papers. Clive will go through his process of image preparation from Adobe® Lightroom edits to colour calibration to choosing Digital FineArt papers including Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285gsm and the new Hahnemühle Natural Line range.
An engaging speaker and storyteller, Clive has a wealth of knowledge in photography, film and graphic design that will enthral and delight. Learn from an expert and join Clive after the workshop for a live Q&A when you can ask questions on his photography process, printing and inkjet paper selection. All imagery for these art reproductions will be printed using the new Canon imagePROGRAF PRO 300. This is certain to be one of the most engaging virtual workshops at the photography show this year.
About Clive Booth
“I like to think of myself as a graphic designer with a camera”. Clive Booth started his career as a graphic designer when, after 20 years, celebrated photographer Nick Knight called on him to shoot backstage at London Fashion Week for his online fashion magazine Showstudio. It was here that he developed his distinctive style of selective focus with natural, available, continuous, found light. A style which gives his work an atmospheric, ethereal quality.
Working both as a stills photographer and as a filmmaker his unique style, along with constant experimentation with new technologies and techniques, has attracted numerous international clients. Fashion brands such as Hackett London, H&M, Silhouette and beauty brands House of Amouage, Shu Uemura, MAC Cosmetics and L’Oreal. He also works closely with Birmingham Royal Ballet and corporate clients Asus, Intel, Fiat, Ernst and Young, Aston Martin and Louis Vuitton Moët and Hennessy.
His current personal project includes a long-term study capturing the day-to-day life of the people and landscape of the Hebridean island of Islay. This includes working closely with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and HM Coastguard. Clive regards this work as some of the most rewarding of his career. Clive runs visual storytelling workshops for Canon Young People Programme, Ideas Foundation, Robert F Kennedy Human Rights and Ian Parry Scholarship and is a Canon Ambassador.
The Beauty of Print
Printmaking is Clive’s first love. Sharing his experience and passion for print and its sensory delight has been a lifelong commitment and joy. The sensory nature of print, the texture, the smells, the excitement, the touch and feel of the paper. Print is a labour of love between the image and the final output. Although its guises have changed from chemical darkrooms to high tech digital printers, print remains the true embodiment of the artists spirit and vision.
“Putting ink on paper is the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Print is the ultimate expression and embodiment of the photographers hard work, determination, dedication, knowledge and craft and as a result requires the ultimate paper” comments Clive.
