Photography Deserves More Than a Screen

At Hahnemühle, we believe photography does not end with the click of the shutter. Instead, a great photograph deserves to be printed, displayed, and experienced.

A high-quality FineArt print can give an image a whole new dimension. For example, the right paper can enhance colors, reveal fine details, and add depth to the overall image. At the same time, the texture of the paper becomes part of the viewing experience.

As a result, a digital photograph can become much more than an image on a screen. It can become a physical work of art.

This idea also lies at the heart of our partnership with Saal Digital. Together, we want to inspire photographers to take their work beyond the screen and explore the possibilities of FineArt printing.

Six Categories. Many Perspectives

The European Photo Awards 2026 celebrate the diversity of photography. Each of the six categories offers photographers an opportunity to showcase their individual style and perspective.

For example, wedding photography can capture powerful emotions and unforgettable moments. Landscape photography, on the other hand, can reveal the beauty and character of a place. Documentary and travel photography can tell stories, while FineArt photography opens the door to creative and personal interpretations.

Ultimately, what matters is a strong image and an individual photographic vision.

The winners of each category will receive prizes worth €2,000 in total. Each winner will receive a €1,000 voucher for Saal Digital products as well as a €1,000 voucher for Hahnemühle products. Saal Digital will print the Hahnemühle products.

In addition, selected winning images can become high-quality FineArt prints on Hahnemühle paper. These prints can then appear at exhibitions, trade shows, and other events connected to the European Photo Awards.

From Digital Image to FineArt Print

For us, printing is an important part of the photographic process. The choice of paper can influence how an image looks and feels.

Different surfaces can emphasize colors, contrast, and fine details. Therefore, choosing the right FineArt paper allows photographers to highlight the character of their work.

With Hahnemühle FineArt papers, photographers can give their images a distinctive finish. Meanwhile, Saal Digital brings its expertise in professional printing to the process.

Together, both partners create a strong connection between digital photography and physical presentation.
