For several years now, Hahnemühle France has been a partner of the Rencontres Nationales of the Urban Sketchers – and 2025 in Lyon was once again a truly special experience: full of encounters, emotions, and creative energy.

Back again – and inspired every year anew
For us, this event is a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people: individuals who live their artistic passion, who share their techniques, ideas, and stories – and who allow us to witness how our papers come to life under their pens and brushes.
In Lyon, the streets transformed into a giant sketchbook. It was inspiring to see how differently the city was interpreted – sometimes spontaneous and playful, sometimes precise and rich in detail, but always full of expression.
What truly moves us: the community
What continually impresses us is the unique atmosphere: open, warm, full of mutual respect – whether someone is joining for the first time or has long been part of the scene.
Sketchers from all over France (and beyond) came together to capture their view of Lyon. People sketched, discussed, laughed – and sometimes sat quietly side by side, each immersed in their own line.
We had fantastic conversations at our booth – about colors, favorite brushes, paper formats, and creative tricks. Many showed us their sketchbooks and shared their experiences. These insights are incredibly valuable to us – because they show how our products are truly used.
A big thank-you also goes to the organizing team, who once again did an outstanding job: with attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm.

New in our lineup: the Watercolour Book Deckle Edge
In Lyon, we also introduced a new product: our Watercolour Book Deckle Edge – a premium watercolor sketchbook with hand-torn edges.
- 100% cotton, fine grain, 250 gsm
- Usable on both sides
- Vibrant colors, clean washes
- Acid-free, age-resistant, and vegan
- Available in various formats, sturdily bound and finely crafted
It was very well received – and we’re excited to see what artworks will be created on this new paper.
Thank you, Lyon!
We’re grateful for all the wonderful encounters and are already looking forward to next time.
Until then – and don’t forget: tag your works with
