The oldest German artist paper manufacturer is proud to be represented in the first edition of the new German Manufacture Guide for traditional handmade products. The book, published by the Callwey-Verlag, Munich, was launched in January 2020 – accompanied by the Manufacture logo, which will adorn Hahnemühle products in future.
Hahnemühle premiers with its traditional artist papers for painting, digital papers for fine art printing and technical papers for life science applications, research and industry in the book. 300 well-known German companies and their branded products are brought together for “THE GREAT BOOK OF MANUFACTURES” by Callwey publishing house, publicist Olaf Salié and an advisory board of the ZEIT publishing house have brought together for. All of them are conceived and refined with great dedication, some of them still by hand and often with the knowledge of generations. Those products accompany many people worldwide for a long time, sometimes for a lifetime.
The book enlightens why Hahnemühle was founded in southern Lower Saxony in 1584 and is still located there today. Good paper needs good water. That is why papermaker Merten Spieß built his paper mill at the foot of the low mountain range of Solling back then.
The pure spring water, which Hahnemühle still uses today, obliges the papermakers from Dassel to constantly work in order to improve their sustainability and conserve resources. “Not least because of this legacy we have developed our ‘Natural Line’ papers successfully right up to date. In the spirit of our founding fathers, we are committed to a sustainable and environmentally friendly production of our 500 paper grades,” confirms Stefan Müller, Technical Plant Manager at Hahnemühle.
“With an uninterrupted history of more than 435 years and expertise in paper production, we are one of the oldest companies in ‘THE GREAT BOOK OF MANUFACTURES’. Every day we refer to our great expertise and experience of the ancient art of paper making and complement it with innovative products,” says Managing Director Jan Wölfle, pleased with the debut in “THE GREAT BOOK OF MANUFATURES”.
