Let’s talk about tree-free papers! At the Hahnemühle Weekend 2024 at the Haus des Papiers in Berlin. From 27-29 September 2024, Hahnemühle’s plant fibre-based artist papers will take centre stage in the first museum for fine paper art. This year, the Hahnemühle Weekend is marking the end of the ‘Paper Future Lab by Haus des Papiers’ and what could be more fitting as a spotlight on our new or rediscovered plant fibres for our versatile artists’ papers?
How are new fibres discovered for genuine artists’ papers?
Which fibres have been used for centuries?
What requirements do all these fibres have to meet?
What advantages do plant fibres have over cellulose from trees?
What about the recycling of fibres or paper?
We will address these questions on all days and especially in a lecture on
Sunday, 29 September 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Haus des Papiers,
Elisabeth-Mara-Straße/Seydelstraße, Spittelmarkt underground station.
All senses will be stimulated: Listen to the lecture, see & feel the paper and fibre samples from Hahnemühle and smell the ingredients for paper production.
Another highlight: On Friday, 27 September at 3 pm, the Berlin print experts from the fine art print manufactory d’mage will be available for you. During a live presentation, they will provide an insight into the technology of digital printing: from data preparation, paper selection, analogue retouching techniques and little tricks to art handling. Naturally, printing will take place on Hahnemühle Digital FineArt paper on a Canon IPF-6400.
Reduced admission of 5 euros applies on all days of the Hahnemühle Weekend and there are free guided tours of the museum’s current exhibition ‘Balanced’ every day:
Friday, 27.09.2024, at 11 a.m.
Saturday, 28 September 2024, at 2 p.m.
Sunday, 29 September 2024, at 2 p.m.
