ICC-Profiles: The hidden technical side of every FineArt print. Besides the right paper and printer, good colour management is essential for the perfect FineArt print. The individual components of this process help to realize the vision of an artist or photographer down to the last color nuance. At the same time, the greatest difficulty is the exact reproduction of the ‘digital’ image version (e.g. on a screen) on a printer or paper. Not only does everyone take colours differently, but monitors and printers also have different colour spaces.
This is exactly the point where ICC-Profiles come into play. The abbreviation ICC stands for “International Color Consortium“. This consortium has created an open, manufacturer-neutral, cross-platform colour management system. It helps to exchange a color profile – no matter whether it is device or color space dependent.
The process of color management and its component ‘ICC-Profiles’ is explained in more detail in today’s article. Enjoy reading! Don’t forget to take part in our raffle – all you have to do is find out the five hidden words in our letter salad.
