Up to and including 30th June, 2015, artists – no matter if amateur or professional – still can submit contributions to next year’s Hahnemühle Calendar. “We are arranging this competition for the ninth time, this year,” Bettina Scheerbarth, responsible for the company’s public relations, delightedly said. “In the beginning, we focused on watercolour paintings and entries from Germany. Today, however, the competition is held all over the world. All painting and drawing techniques are welcome. In 2014 we received more than 1200 pictures from 40 countries. That’s a success we are really proud of.” Every year, the competition is announced with a new topic and this year, the motto is ‘Nature in the City’. The Hahnemühle website features an upload portal for submitting artworks for the contest. 30 to 50 of all the pictures submitted will make it to a pre-selection phase and then, the best 12 pictures will be chosen for the 2016 calendar. Each step will be announced on Hahnemühle’s website. The calendar will be produced in a limited edition of 2,500 copies and is not purchasable. It will be given away as gift to the company’s friends and business partners. Each of the 12 winners will be rewarded with 10 copies of the calendar and painting utensils amounting to €350.
