“I like the play of contrasts and use both complementary and chiaroscuro effects to create tension and bring vitality into my work. Regardless of technique and material, the precise expressive references that I want to convey arise” says artist Cordula Kerlikowski. Her pictures in the invitation to this year’s painting competition for the Hahnemühle 2015 art calendar are intended to inspire other artists – both hobbyists and professionals. The competition is now open.
“Hahnemühle papers provide an optimum opportunity to experiment with different weights, sizes and surfaces, so that the subject of my art and the material are working together in the desired way, whether in acrylic painting, watercolour, drawing or in traditional printing processes. Diversity of the papers guarantees almost unlimited possibilities of artistic expression.” Cordula Kerlikowski is well versed in many painting and drawing techniques as well as in traditional and innovative printing techniques. She does dry-point etchings on CDs – printed with great colour contrasts on soft etching paper by Hahnemühle.
Now, we are looking forward to your entries! Create the 2015 Hahnemühle Art Calendar with the topic “Contrasts”. We will be looking for the interplay of light and dark, colour and monochromatic or any other contrasting effects, with different materials and painting techniques to create the ultimate atmospheric artwork.
Entry is open to all individuals. Up to five works of art in all painting, drawing or traditional printing technique are welcome. The only requirement: Your image must be created on a paper by Hahnemühle or Lana. We look forward to receiving your high-contrast favourites. The closing date is June 30, 2014. Please use the up-load portal and read the entry rules online. The flyer is linked for download.
