From July 3 to September 7, 2025, the Museum Haus des Papiers presents the photo festival Communication and Attitude. The focus is on the theme of “Understanding Democracy and Respectful Communication.” Through the use of large-format photo posters, art finds its way directly into public urban space: 29 renowned artists and photographers will show- case their works at numerous public locations across Berlin. Documentary and artistic approaches will engage in a thought-provoking dialogue.
Powerful Images – Accessible to All
Compelling and challenging visual motifs, ex-
pressed through the universal language of photography, invite open dialogue. With the festival, curators Annette Berr, Katharina Grosch, and Annika Lorenz aim to inspire appreciation for the role of constructive and respectful communication in preserving democracy in a polarized world. “Democracy needs art, and art needs public space – now more than ever,” urges Berr.
The goal is to foster democratic discourse through visibility in urban space and to create new opportunities for public encounters with art.

The Haus des Papiers – Organiser of the 3rd Summer Art Festival in the Capital of Culture Berlin
The Haus des Papiers is a private museum in the heart of Berlin dedicated solely to contemporary sculptural paper art. Founded in 2021 by Annette Berr and Ul Vohrer, the museum supports both established and emerging artists through initiatives such as the Paper Residency! program and the prestigious Paper Art Award, sponsored by d´mage, Hahnemühle and Canon Germany. The Haus des Pa- piers is also committed to building a vibrant paper art community, honoring artistic and craft excellence with great respect.
A majority of the artworks at the photo festival are printed sustainably on Hahnemühle Sustainable Photo Satin paper – the world’s first photo paper without a PE coating. The newly developed bio-inkjet coating is free of plastic composites and films and is therefore 100% recyclable via the waste paper cycle.
