Reflecting on the essentials of life, putting a thought on paper with intention, capturing fleeting moments and leafing through them again and again – there are many reasons why writing by hand is experiencing a renaissance in our digital world. Preserving something that is of value to us, recording the present moment. With this in mind Hahnemühle has returned to its roots and developed FineNotes by Hahnemühle, a premium collection of fine notebooks and high-quality writing instruments.
On a historically rich foundation of more than 400 years of uninterrupted tradition in manufacturing the finest papers our product vision of noble notebooks and luxurious writing instruments has arrived. The FineNotes range are unique and imprinted with the Hahnemühle DNA. Premium writing papers with watermarks fill our notebook series and the patterns of our paper machines inspire the guilloché surfaces of the limited edition writing series. Made from exquisite raw materials, all FineNotes products are handcrafted in Germany to perfection. Distinctive watermarks, fine engravings or noble embossings are recognisable trademarks.
FineNotes Notebooks go back to the heritage on which the company was founded with handmade Hahnemühle papers that were once created for royalty and nobility. When a pen glides on fine paper and ideas take shape, that is art: the art of writing and papermaking in equal measure. The premium notebooks Iconic and Manuscript are perfect for people who let thoughts flow through their hand onto paper. They are valuable companions that appeal to all the senses. The finest Hahnemühle watermark paper between noble leather book covers preserve very personal entries and guarantee haptically and visually impressive writing experiences. The high-quality paper is smooth and supple and does not allow ink to bleed through.
The FineNotes Writing Instruments includes fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoint pens of luxury class. They are offered in the series First Edition – strictly limited to 100 pieces -, Slim and Bold Edition. All fountain pens have a rhodium-plated and engraved 18-carat gold nib with the line width M (line width M what does this mean) and can be used with an ink converter or ink cartridges. We at Hahnemühle have developed these writing instrument editions made of precious metal based on our experience with artists’ editions. After all, artists and creative people have been working on our paper in limited editions since our founding year in 1584. The writing instruments of the First Edition are real treasures for lovers of writing and collectors of noble accessories. The collection, consisting of fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint, is limited to 100 pieces each worldwide. Each pen bears its edition number and comes in a luxury black wooden box.
The ornamental pattern of the guilloché surface is common to the First and Slim Edition. It is reminiscent of the screens used by Hahnemühle’s papermakers creating genuine fine art paper. A special feature of the Slim Edition: the pens come in the elegant colours, beige and cool grey. Each pen is soft yet grippy in the hand and glides effortlessly across the paper. The writing instruments of the Bold Edition are a statement and, with this name, we reminisce on our founding father, papermaker Merten Spieß. They are made of matt stainless steel – clear and valuable, strong and present.
