We have had an outstanding response. With more than 750 artists, from 36 countries, who have submitted a remarkable 1700 pictures. We are absolutely thrilled about the sheer volume and high quality work that we have received. There has been so much creativity in motifs, style and techniques.
Our final announcement of the 12 winners will be made in October 2017, so stay tuned for our next announcement, and keep your fingers crossed!
To paint my motive “Flower Window” on the subject of the Hahnemühle Calendar competition ‘Nature in the City’, I have chosen the water colour technique to paint on the mould-made watercolor paper William Turner with paints from Schmincke and brushes of da Vinci.
Alexa Dilla, freelance artist and painter on board of a large cruise ship, has painted one of the winning motifs of the Hahnemühle Art Calendar 2016. Her artwork was selected for the month of February. In our studio report, Alexa tells us what inspired her painting “Amsterdam in the Rain”. Hahnemühle’s new painting competition is now open. “Nature in the City” is the trendy theme for our art calendar 2016. We look forward to many international submissions and want to reach the record participation from last year again. “I like the play of contrasts and use both complementary and chiaroscuro effects to create tension and bring vitality into my work. Regardless of technique and material, the precise expressive references that I want to convey arise” says artist Cordula Kerlikowski. Nearly 700 images by 350 artists from 29 countries were submitted to the international 2013 calendar competition with the subject ‘Music’. Watercolors, acrylic paintings, collages, drawings, pastels and linocut prints show instruments, musicians, concert scenes and dances. It was, as always, a difficult task for the jury to select just 12 monthly motifs out of the abundance of submissions.
