UPON PAPER magazine #02: COLOR coming October 22, 2012

UPON PAPER #2 - HahnemühleUPON PAPER found its start in Berlin in March 2012 as an innovative platform for the exchange between artists, photographers, designers, and art enthusiasts from around the world. Following the successful launch of the XXL-magazine’s first issue – on the theme of Los Angeles – and the two exhibitions Planet L.A. and Niall O’Brien’s Good Rats, UPON PAPER #02 will be appearing on October 22, 2012. The second issue has taken COLOR as its main theme.

UPON PAPER is an initiative of Hahnemühle FineArt, and its concept is based on three complementary channels: the semiannual, monothematic, large-format (490 . 690 mm) magazine; the exhibition venue UPON PAPER space, in Berlin Mitte; and the professionally edited UPON PAPER web.

UPON PAPER Magazine receives the red dot: best of the best Award

Reddot Award Upon PaperThe efforts of Creative Director Helder Suffenplan’s design team and the editorial team around publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Holger Homann, have been recognized by the red dot award, one of the world’s largest and best-known design competitions: The magazine’s first edition was awarded the coveted “best of the best” distinction, in honor of the highest level of quality in design.

“I’m very happy about this high-level distinction,” said Helder Suffenplan. “It’s a great appreciation for a concept that is fundamentally unwieldy: UPON PAPER magazine is not easy reading, and it demands the full attention and involvement of its readers. The jury has honored this ambition and that makes the entire team very proud.”

Upon Paper – a new art plattform initiated by Hahnemühle

Cover UPON PAPER MagazineMarch 2012 sees the launch of UPON PAPER in Berlin, a new, innovative platform creating a dialogue with visual artists of all kinds, as well as photographers, designers, architects, and anyone interested in art from around the world. The unifying theme is a passion for paper as a timeless medium for capturing ideas, dreams and visions and instigating debate. UPON PAPER is initiated by Hahnemühle FineArt.

UPON PAPER consists of three complementary strands: in UPON PAPER magazine paper becomes the stage for art, UPON PAPER space offers a space for exhibitions and conversation, which will continue to be discussed and investigated on the continually updated UPON PAPER website. An open dialogue between artists, architects, designers and filmmakers, musicians and writers is also a central concern of the project.
