Our jury, made up of photographers, photo journalists, gallerists and other experienced photo industry experts, will evaluate your photo series according to the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>artistic quality \u2013 composition, creativity and visual persuasiveness<\/li>\n<li>technical quality \u2013 technical\/practical implementation<\/li>\n<li>quality of content \u2013 congruence between the concepts and visual implementation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enter our competition and impress the jury with your work and creativity!<span class=\"tlid-translation translation\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"\" title=\"\">Over the next few weeks, we will introduce the members of the jury one by one.<\/span><br \/>\n<span title=\"\">Here we go!<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rolfnobel.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rolf Nobel<\/a> is a professor of photography at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and Hannover University of Applied Sciences, where he played a key role in designing the photojournalism and documentary photography degree course. He helped to transform the programme into one of the largest in Germany, and one of the most successful academic photojournalism training institutions in the world.<\/p>\n<p>As well as working on his own photography and book projects, Rolf Nobel runs photojournalism, street photography and travel photography workshops for the Deutsche Journalistinnen- und Journalisten Union (dju), the ver.di training institute and the German Press Agency (dpa), among others. He is also a member of numerous juries, for example the UNICEF Photo of the Year, the Alfred Fried Photography Award, the VGH Fotopreis and the Pressefoto Bayern competition.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf Nobel is a co-founder of the photography association FreeLens and a member of their advisory board. He is also the founder and director of Lumix Festivals for Young Photojournalism in Hannover and director of the GAF photo gallery, also in Hannover.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, the German Photographic Association awarded Rolf Nobel with the Dr Erich Salomon Prize, one of the most prestigious photography awards in Germany.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;18388&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;18390&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a class=\"external-link-new-window\" title=\"\u00d6ffnet externen Link in neuem Fenster\" href=\"http:\/\/www.c4fap.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamidah Glasgow<\/a> has been the Executive Director and Curator at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado since 2009. Hamidah holds a master\u2019s degree in humanities with a specialization in visual and gender studies and a bachelor\u2019s degree in philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>Hamidah\u2019s contribution to photography has included curatorial projects, national portfolio reviews (FotoFest, Photolucida, Medium, Center, Filter, etc.), contributions to publications and online magazines.<\/p>\n<p>She received the 2018 Hal Gould Vision in Photography Award and is a co-founder of the Strange Fire Collective. This collective is dedicated to photo-based work that engages with current social and political forces, highlighting the work of women, people of colour, and queer and trans artists, writers, and curators.<\/p>\n<p>Hamidah \u2013 (Pronounced Ha-me-dah) is interested in a wide variety of work both finished projects, work-in-progress, and creative brain storming. Hamidah can assist with editing, sequencing, and project development. She is looking for photo-based artists for exhibition opportunities and web-based features. She is not interested in traditional nudes, traditional landscapes, or commercial work.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;18391&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Vincent Marcilhacy joined\u00a0<span class=\"tlid-translation translation\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agencevu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agentur VU\u2018<\/a><\/span> in 1996 where he held several positions, before creating the Special Projects department dedicating to support photographers through philantropic initiatives. He designed there the programme for the 20th Anniversary of <i>VU\u2019<\/i> in 2006 (which gave rise to many publications, conferences and exhibitions) and continued to develop collective projects inviting photographers to confront their sights to contemporary issues. In 2008, he founded <i>VU MAG<\/i>, biannual magazine with aim to open up our approach to photography.<\/p>\n<p>Each issue has become an ongoing reflection on a theme by the photography and other forms of creative dialogue with the image. In 2009, he takes over the management of <i>Galerie VU\u2019<\/i>, founded in 1997, which he supports since the development in France and abroad with a brand new exhibition space in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Vincent Marcilhacy created <a href=\"https:\/\/theeyes.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;The Eyes Publishing&#8217;<\/a> that he develops since through the publication of a biannual revue &#8216;The Eyes&#8217; of photbooks and consulting assignments in photography and publishing. Vincent Marcilhacy is also managing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.picto.fr\/pictofoundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Picto Foundation<\/a>, an organism founded by Picto photo la with aim to support photoghy actor. He is finally teaching business startegies and tecnics in schools of photography.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a class=\"external-link-new-window\" title=\"\u00d6ffnet externen Link in neuem Fenster\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zeldacheatle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zelda Cheatle<\/a> is a well-known curator and editor of photography. After some years taking photographs, she began a gallery career at the <a href=\"https:\/\/thephotographersgallery.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Photographers Gallery<\/a> in London from 1982 to 1988, working with internationally renowned photographers and emerging British and European artists using photography.<\/p>\n<p>From 1989 to 2005, the eponymous Zelda Cheatle Gallery exhibited important work from many illustrious names and consistently showed young and emerging artists, whilst acknowledging the importance of the history of photography and exhibiting iconic work from across the 20th century. From 2005 to 2012, Zelda Cheatle was responsible for initiating, sourcing and establishing the first Photography Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Primarily collecting fine prints of the 20th century, the Fund Collection included the Eve Arnold Archive of vintage prints and a significant Russian collection from Rodchenko to Lissitzky and the Vhutemas School, and a collection of 20th Century iconic works from Sudek to Steichen. Everything changed once he found himself surrounded by these baby elephants and his short travel break turned into a wonderful friendship and terrific project. It is still ongoing even today and has become a matter close to his heart.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Joachim Schmeisser won the prestigious Hasselblad Award for this work. In 2017, his book \u00bbElephants in Heaven\u00ab was launched by the German Publisher teNeues and sold out within 4 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbI feel like this work\u2014for me\u2014is an unprecedented example of the perfect balance between creating an icon, and working with an icon.\u00ab writes Art Editor Fridey Mickel of the TAZ Berlin about his work and Matthias Harder, Chief curator of the Helmut Newton Foundation Berlin, speaks in his foreword about him as a man of conviction with an ecological, visual approach. \u00bbHe gives something back to the land and ultimately infects us with his enthusiasm for the elephants.\u00ab<\/p>\n<p>Joachim Schmeisser\u2019s intention is to show the beauty and uniqueness of our planet and to increase sensitivity for a topic that concerns us all.
