[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The world\u00b4s first\u00a0bookprinting\u00a0paper made of Hemp is a passion project of\u00a0photographer and climate impact storyteller\u00a0Maren Krings<\/a>\u00a0and our team at\u00a0Hahnem\u00fchle. When Maren came up with the idea of her book on the re-invention of\u00a0industrial hemp printed on hemp paper, our product managers, quality department team and well trained paper technologists got into action.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Since 2016\u00a0Maren Krings has\u00a0tracked the rediscovery of industrial hemp in five continents. At the same time Hahnem\u00fchle expanded the\u00a0\u201eNatural Line\u201c<\/a>\u00a0range of papers made of\u00a0Bamboo<\/a>,\u00a0Agave<\/a>,\u00a0Sugar Cane<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Hemp<\/a>\u00a0fibres. Plant-based pulp for papermaking is a natural progression for Hahnem\u00fchle as paper was made from plant-based textile rags until the industrial revolution. Hahnem\u00fchle invented at first a sustainable Hemp paper for\u00a0photography<\/a>, followed by\u00a0drawing<\/a>\u00a0and most recently, a premium Hybrid Hemp paper for\u00a0print and book publishing.<\/p>\n

Initially Hahnem\u00fchle supported Maren Krings photo exhibition\u00a0‘Hemp\u2019s Potential’<\/a>\u00a0which was printed on Digital FineArt Inkjet Paper Hahnem\u00fchle Hemp. The genuine plant-fibre based paper from our \u201eNatural Line\u201c is made of 60 % Hemp fibres and 40 % cotton linters \u2013 a leftover from the oil and textile industry \u2013 and was launched 2019. At the beginning of 2021, we launched a new 80 gsm sketch paper made of hemp. Both papers \u2013 from our digital and traditional artist paper range – became the foundation for the paper in the book \u201eH is for Hemp\u201c[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”20772″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”right”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The uncoated papers were printed on HP PageWide T250HD for the book blocks on Hybrid Hemp 80gsm and the covers on 280gsm Hybrid Hemp paper on a sheet-fed HP Indigo Commercial Press at\u00a0Elanders<\/a>\u00a0Germany.
