“During my experience as linocutter I have searched and tried a lot of different types of paper. I can say that I have tried almost every type of paper, from card stock to hand-made and lots of watercolors papers, but in the end my choice was the Hahnemühle Quattro 170gsm natural white sketch paper in size 30x30cm.
My printing process is completely handmade by me and therefore it is important that a paper could absorb in a perfect way the ink without the use of a printing press. The physical act of creating a linocut involves multiple steps: drawing and designing, carving on a linoleum block and gouging, handling quality paper, rolling the ink, and so on. Every step is done by me, and every linocut in the edition is slightly unique.
The Hahnemühle Quattro Sketch Paper is no doubt the one that has the best result for my works, in particular one of the things I appreciate mainly is the natural white color that binds perfectly with my black ink. The Hahnemhühle Quattro also has a perfect weight and as a sketch paper a slightly rough surface that makes it pleasing to the eye and to the touch. Best choice for me.”
