Hahnemühle supports artists in their message that peace cannot be painted on paper or a canvas, but art is their voice and solidarity is theis message. The art world wants to contribute and Hahnemühle donates high quality paper to selected initiatives by groups and individual artists like „We made this – Art against War“.
“We are donating our proceeds to the LEAVENOONEBEHIND organisation to support people in need of help from the Ukraine war. We did not expect such a rush. More than 150 artworks were collected in a very short time and sold very well. Our originals and FineArt art prints on Photo Rag® are currently being sent all over the world, so far we have already sent shipments to Austria, Italy and the USA. Every day we receive almost 50 emails from artists who would like to participate,” says Lukas Geffahrt from the w.m.t. Gallery.
Hahnemühle supports the artist fundraiser “Prints for people in need” initiated by 17 German and international artists touched by the humanitarian crisis of refugees from Ukraine. All fine art prints of the fundraiser – available in A4 and A3 – are printed on Photo Rag® Baryta donated by us. “Deeply touched by the suffering of people in a war in Europe, I thought I MUST do something to help people in their situation! Instead of ‘just’ donating money, which I have done, I use my artist network to initiate a ‘Print Sale’. On the one hand, artists donate their work and buyers do something good, and at the same time they have the opportunity to purchase excellent printed artworks for a limited period of time,” say David Breun and Maximilian Motel as initiators.
“Prints for people in need” is a growing platform for contemporary art where artists from the fields of photography, painting and graphic design can sell their donated work. All proceeds go to organisations that help refugees from Ukraine such as Doctors without borders, Caritas and Care International.
The project is open to other artists from all over the world who would like to donate one or two images that will be printed for the charity in an open edition in gallery quality on Hahnemühle paper. The project can be reached at info@printsforpeopleinneed.de.
In the UK we have also supported a fundraising campaign with the donation of paper to Have.a.butchers in collaboration with Hahnemühle Certified Studio Hempstead May. Over £135,000 has been raised for this fundraising effort with 100% of the funds going to the British Red Cross and the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
And we also support the journalist and visual artist, askia Reis, in her project „PRINT SALE FOR UKRAINE“. “On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I created a collage especially for this purpose to launch a donation campaign for Ukraine, which I am activating throughout Women’s March. The motif shows the Ukrainian artist Alyona Alyona, who published her peace song “Shalom” last year.”
